Wellman Creek

A cozy downtown Boulder condo with a glorious mountain view, this property was badly damaged in a building flood and was stripped down to the studs. The first time that our team saw the property there was ice hanging off the walls. In need of a complete home repair and redesign, the homeowners approached Design Studio looking for a modern, durable design. To maximize the intimate space they asked for built-in shelving, a built-in dining banquette with storage and a pantry with a place for everything. Further, favorite color — navy blue. Design Studio responded with custom cabinetry, a gorgeous gourmet kitchen and a clever paint scheme that carried navy blue throughout the home.

Kitchen
When you first walk into the residence, you’re greated with a view of the neighboring park and the beautiful kitchen. The cabinets are the first element to bring the navy blue into the home, complimented with a white quartz countertop from Pental Surfaces. The client wanted an additional ‘pop’ in the kitchen, so we incorporated a brilliant, reflective, deco tile from Sark Tile for the backsplash. The kitchen and pantry were finished off with a classic Brushed Nickel finish plumbing trim and cabinet hardware. Two modern light fixtures accompany the kitchen over the peninsula and custom built-in dining nook.

Living Room
As you continue into the home, your eye catches the ceiling height living room built-ins with ample shelving space for books, photos, or other home decor. With a matching wood finish to the dining nook, both elements bring the warm tones back into the space. We continued the navy blue theme with a ‘hombre’ finish on the inside, starting with the same blue the cabinets are painted in up top and gradually getting lighter with each cubby space. We designed the built-ins to perfectly fit the sleeper sofa our client already owned, ensuring all furniture the client planned to reuse would fit in the space.

Unique Paint Scheme
Once you reach the stairwell to continue upstairs, you see the half wall paint scheme that follows up to the second floor. The navy blue strip along the lower half makes a dramatic statement when viewed down the hallway. Complimented with the same navy blue in the laundry closet and main bedroom wall pulls it all together for a complete design from top to bottom.
